Rev. Gregory Jackson Completes Service as Lott Carey President
Rev. Gregory Jackson of Hackensack, New Jersey, completes three years as president of the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Society. This follows on previous stints as first vice president and second vice president of the international mission agency.
Recently retired after 36 years as senior pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Hackensack, Rev. Jackson has had a stellar vocation as pastor, mentor, denominational leader, encourager, and guide.
His reach has been both local and global. His influence encompassing the pastoral, missional, educational, and ecumenical spheres.
Rev. Jackson is a former president of New Brunswick Theological Seminary Board of Trustees in New Jersey and is a past president of the Hackensack Fellowship of Black Churches. He previously served on the General Council of the Baptist World Alliance and the board of the Baptist-Islamic Taskforce.
While president of Lott Carey, Rev. Jackson oversaw the transition of leadership of the global mission agency. Rev. Emmett Dunn succeeded Dr. David Goatley as executive secretary-treasurer after Dr. Goatley accepted a professorship at Duke Divinity School in North Carolina.
Rev. Jackson was instrumental in working with Rev. Dunn in guiding Lott Carey through the difficult Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, ensuring it remains true to its mission while being frugal in fulfilling its financial and other obligations.
“Rev. Jackson’s tenure as President, was impacted by the pandemic. Driven by his passion for missions and his compassion for God’s people, he advanced the ministry and mission of Lott Carey with zeal, commitment, and humility,” said Rev. Dunn.
“I am forever grateful to him for his leadership, guidance, and support. Rev. Jackson is a shining example of a servant leader. My entrance into Lott Carey was made a lot easier because of the prayers and support of President Gregory Jackson.”
Rev. Jackson is being succeeded by Dr. Gina Stewart, the first woman elected Lott Carey president, and the first female president of a national African American Baptist mission agency or convention. Dr. Stewart is senior pastor of Christ Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee.
Established in 1897, Lott Carey has long term mission engagements in more than 20 countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America.
Lott Carey is based in the Washington DC Metro Area and provides financial support and technical assistance in leadership development, education, training, healthcare, advocacy, and other services.
