A century of mission in the Caribbean
August 23, 2023
For more than a century, Lott Carey, a global Christian missional community, has been partnering with churches and ministries in the Caribbean to transform lives and communities with the gospel and various services. From Haiti to Jamaica to Guyana, Lott Carey has been supporting its partners with financial assistance, capacity building, solidarity, and prayer.
In Carries, Haiti, Mission of Grace operates an orphanage, an elderly home, a medical clinic, a school, a soup kitchen, and a church. It also reaches out to communities across the country with evangelism and relief. Lott Carey began its partnership with Mission of Grace in 2015 and has been supporting its various programs and projects.
Mission of Grace needs finances, medical supplies, hygiene products, clothes, shoes, blankets, school supplies, and prayer to continue its mission.
One of the oldest partners of Lott Carey in the Caribbean is the Union of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Haiti (USEBH), which traces its roots to the early 1800s. Today, it is a vibrant network of 30 congregations with more than 4,200 members. USEBH engages in spiritual, social, educational, and economic ministries. Lott Carey has been supporting USEBH with financial assistance, capacity building, and solidarity.
USEBH needs support for its Bible seminary, annual convention, food distribution program, salary adjustment for teachers, professional schools, clinic, music instruments, motorcycles for pastors, construction assistance for churches, and a bus for transportation.
Prayer concerns are for peace and security in Haiti, eradication of armed gangs and deliverance of the nation, godly leadership for the people, spiritual growth and dedication of the churches and ministries.
Trinity Evangelical Ministry (TEM) in St. Mary, Jamaica, operates a basic school, a skills training center, health fairs, and Vacation Bible School. It also partners with other churches and organizations to share the gospel and help poor and vulnerable people with education, training, health, and empowerment.
TEM needs finances, equipment, resources, volunteers, and income-generating activities to thrive.
It requests prayer to overcome the various socioeconomic challenges facing the institution and the country.
Lott Carey has been partnering with Guyana Missionary Baptist Church (GMBC) since 1960 and has been supporting its various initiatives and projects. GMBC engages in worship, ministry, health care, education, empowerment, and advocacy programs.
GMBC reaches about 1,000 people weekly with worship and ministry, helps about 400 patients weekly with health care, supports students with learning clubs, raises awareness about breast cancer, gives out food and supplies to families in need, and develops land for coconut farming.
GMBC needs infrastructure development, building maintenance, vehicles, a sports center, a nursing home, scholarships, and computers.
Its prayer requests are for financial independence, equipping and empowering Christian leaders, raising new church planters, empowering Christian leaders to embrace advocacy work, race relations in Guyana, integrity of government, and Guyana’s ecumenical community.
Lott Carey is proud of its partners in the Caribbean and their achievements in advancing the kingdom of God. It invites you to join them in prayer and support as they continue their mission in the region.
