Pastoral Excellence Network:
The Lott Carey Pastoral Excellence Network (PEN) cultivates missional pastors by promoting practices of health and wholeness and advocating innovative ministry impact informed by the global church.
Lott Carey Pilgrimages of Striving and Thriving
Pilgrimages of Striving and Thriving help pastors to flourish in ministry. Pilgrim Pastors will journey together on intellectual pilgrimages (48-hour retreats in the United States) for learning, growing and building healthy relationships with peers. They will also share international pilgrimages (seven-day immersions) to explore striving and thriving in Canada and Jamaica where pioneer African-American Baptist pastors migrated in the 18th century to ensure their freedom from enslavement.
Pilgrimages will have two cohorts – 25 women lead pastors and 25 young adult lead pastors (born in 1979 or later). Registration for women pastors is April – June 2018. Registration for young adult pastors is September – November 2018. Download an informational flyer here.

Pastoral Excellence Immersion to Australia
Pastoral Excellence Network Immersions annually give pastors opportunities for cross-cultural ministries and partnerships with host communities and colleagues to broaden visions, build networks, and deepen impacts. The 2019 Pastoral Excellence Network Immersion will be 4-16 February 2019 to Australia for peer learning with Aboriginal pastors. The cost is $3,750.00.
Palmer Theological Seminary of Eastern University and Lott Carey have partnered to offer a specialized Master of Theological Studies (MTS) through Palmer’s blended online model—OpenSeminary. The OpenSeminary MTS is designed specifically to train church leaders in best practices as well as relevant theology and theory, for the purpose of addressing the real questions that emerge from local church practice. Students will complete their program in concert with their participation in Lott Carey Mission Society gatherings, and have the opportunity to interact with established thought leaders in global contextual ministry. Download the informational flyer here. Download the program fees here.
A Pastoral Excellence Network Conference is held two days during the Lott Carey Annual Session that convenes in August and two days during the Lott Carey Spring Mission Conference in March/April to address:
- Care for Pastors – The Tuesday session promotes practices of personal and spiritual health and wellness.
- Creativity for Pastors – The Thursday session addresses pressing theological issues and contemporary challenges to good and faithful ministries.
