Rev. Dr. Angelita Clifton

Dr. Angelita Clifton is an associate minister at Fountain Baptist Church in Summit, New  Jersey where the esteemed Reverend Dr. J. Michael Sanders is pastor. As the First Vice  President of Women in Service Everywhere for the Lott Carey Global Missional  Community she is an advocate, activist and ally for women’s empowerment. A strong  proponent for Trauma Informed Ministry she provides strength-based ministerial  services, at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women, Northern State  Correctional Facility for men, and at various Transitional Houses in NJ. Reverend Clifton  also facilities workshops for the Lott Carey Anti-Trafficking Initiative. Under the Lott Carey umbrella she equips, empowers and encourages churches to mobilize their efforts  against human trafficking, both domestically and abroad. Utilizing a strength-based  empowerment model she has mobilized women to challenge gender-based violence in  Australia, Dubai, Ghana, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria,  and South Africa. In 2014 she was blessed to present the Lott Carey Trauma Informed  Ministry Model at the United Nations. The campaign for Thursdays in Black, in  partnership with the World Council of Churches and the Ecumenical Women at the UN, is  a focal point for WISE. Dr. Angelita Clifton coined the phrase “Nu Jane Crow” to draw  attention to the evolution of racism and sexism resulting in gender-based violence.
